Did you know that certain foods can cause cancer? What are the foods that are carcinogenic? Is there scientific evidence for the same?
Substances that cause changes in a cell’s DNA and cause cancer are called Carcinogens. Not all Carcinogens alter the cell’s DNA but can cause cancer in other ways. Some of the changes in DNA are caused by heredity or environmental factors.
Certain foods form HCA (Hetero Cyclic Amines) and PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Amines). They are formed when amino acids, sugars and creatine react at high temperatures. It should also be noted that HCA are not found in grilled vegetables. HCA’s can cause cell proliferation in the body but this effect can be suppressed by having anti carcinogenic foods – Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Omega 3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid and catechins. - Go for regular check ups
In order to prevent cancer, you must try and try and have a healthy lifestyle. Research studies have proven that exercise and physical activity reduces the risk of cancer. Fruits and vegetables have antioxidants which destroy free radicals that can cause cancer. Once you reach 30 years of age, go for regular checkups every 6 months. A healthy diet and physical activity can prevent most diseases!
