SITTING ALL DAY?????! TIME TO WATCH YOUR HEALTH

Homo sapiens (Man) were designed to be energetic and active hence, sedentary life style can be contrary to human nature. Our grandparents led an active lifestyle and engaged in various vigorous muscular activities like fishing, farming, hunting, and migrating from place to place even just by using a bicycle! , hence they lived stronger, healthier and longer. Health is an essential quality of life that is dependent upon diverse factors, and behaviour/life style is one of the most important and powerful determinants of health.
Technological advancement and increase in electronic gadgets have provided man with so many facilities that has led to reduced physical and muscular activities, and a corresponding increase in the amount of time spent sitting down at work place, school, home and public places.
Despite knowing the ill effects of inactivity and sedentary lifestyle, it might be surprising to discover the realities or changes that can take place to the human body over time. Along with the obvious decreased strength and endurance there are other factors, that can predispose an individual to life threatening illnesses.

HEALTH RISKS ASSOCIATED DUE TO INACTIVITY AND ALL DAY SITTING....
Hurt to your Heart

The activities such as sitting and watching TV the entire day(6-12hrs), playing video games, and driving vehicle for long hours do not enhance muscular/vigorous activities and can therefore favour heart related diseases such as Ischemic heart disease, coronary artery disease, and even stroke!

Increased Risk of Diabetes

risk of diabetesYes, sitting all day can in turn make one more prone to diabetes. It isn’t only because fewer calories are burnt, but doctors think sitting may change the way our body reacts to insulin, the hormone that helps in burning sugar and carbs for energy.

Weight Gain

weight gainSurf the web for hours on end? One is more likely to be overweight or obese. Exercising everyday is beneficial, but will not be beneficial enough in decreasing the weight gain as a result of too much screen time.

Your Exercise can go for a toss

Even by doing work out 7 hours a week -- far more than the suggested 2-3 hours -- one would not be able to reverse the effects of sitting 7 hours at a time. Do not throw away all that hard work at the gym by hitting the couch for the rest of the day. Keep moving!

Shortening of life span

The probability of early death increases by sitting for long stretches at a time. It doesn’t help if one does exercise every day or not. Of course, that’s no excuse to skip the gym. One can expect shorter life span/early death by sitting all day and every day.

Sedentary lifestyle and Depression

It is a fact that physical inactivity can lead to depression and other related disorders if one has lack of movement throughout the day. It can become a serious issue if not been addressed quickly. Exercise is a proven alternative for reducing depression as it is found to produce Endorphins- the body’s natural painkiller.
In conclusion, stay active as much as possible. This will help to keep you healthy and ward off any of the conditions stated above.
