Our grandparents led an active lifestyle and engaged in various vigorous muscular activities like fishing, farming, hunting, and migrating from place to place even just by using a bicycle! , hence they lived stronger, healthier and longer. Health is an essential quality of life that is dependent upon diverse factors, and behaviour/life style is one of the most important and powerful determinants of health.
Technological advancement and increase in electronic gadgets have provided man with so many facilities that has led to reduced physical and muscular activities, and a corresponding increase in the amount of time spent sitting down at work place, school, home and public places.
Despite knowing the ill effects of inactivity and sedentary lifestyle, it might be surprising to discover the realities or changes that can take place to the human body over time. Yes, sitting all day can in turn make one more prone to diabetes. It isn’t only because fewer calories are burnt, but doctors think sitting may change the way our body reacts to insulin, the hormone that helps in burning sugar and carbs for energy.
